Seeking to understand the networks of the brain.

Simplifying the complex.

As part of the University of Utah’s Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, the Brain Network Laboratory was established to study the network architecture of the brain. Using multimodal neuroimaging methods and in-depth neuropsychological assessments, we seek to understand how cognition, and brain structure and function are affected by psychiatric and neurological disorders.

How do brain networks malfunction in diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease? How are brain networks related to autistic features throughout the lifespan in autistic individuals?  How does the use of cannabinoids affect brain activity? How do changing brain network dynamics affect our ability to process information, understand ourselves, and our ability to function in a complex social world? What happens to brain networks as we age?

These are just some of the questions we seek to answer in the Brain Network Laboratory.
